Rotarian John Caserta accepts check from Rotary President Debbie Volain to deliver to North Haven Police Union for local child fighting for his life.

Rotarian John Caserta learned recently of a small boy in North Haven fighting for his life and asked his fellow club members to donate to the cause. According to the North Haven Police Union, seven year old Anthony Longley has been fighting an incurable recurring brain tumor, Anaplastic Ependymoma, since he was two years old, and has undergone intense treatment to minimize the tumor. Unfortunately, it has returned and Anthony will be having brain surgery very soon to remove the tumor.

The police union’s website states that the family are “giving, selfless, and the most courageous and strong people I have ever met,” adding  “medical treatment comes with a very high price, and that is where the community comes in to help out our neighbors and support them, so that they know they do not have to fight this alone!” Debbie Volain, Rotary Club President, called a special board meeting on line to authorize a $1,000 donation to the charity. The police union announced that there will be a fundraiser on Sunday March 23, 2014 at Fantasia, 404 Washington Avenue in North Haven, CT. For tickets go to  ANTLNOHPD@YAHOO.COM.
