Donations were recently made to some of our causes.
Each year, members of the North Haven Rotary Club have the opportunity to recommend that a portion of the funds raised by the service club be designated for a charity of their choice. With that in mind, representatives from several charities have addressed the group recently and expressed their thanks for the financial support. Attorney Cheryl Juniewic, a member of Rotary herself, represented the Family Centered Services of CT in order to accept a donation for her favorite charity recently. Their vision statement reads “Family CT envisions a safe family and community environment for all, free of abuse, neglect and violence.”
The chairperson of the Board of Education, Anita Anderson, who is also a Rotarian brought a guest from HARC, Ed Vanderbeck, who said that the organization he represents serves people with intellectual and related disabilities. Regarding her choice of charities Anderson said, "It is wonderful to support a CT organization that helps those with intellectual and other disabilities starting from birth, and continuing throughout one’s life span."

Each year, Attorney James Giulietti recommends that monetary support go to the North Haven Senior Center. The guest of the past president was Director Judith Amarone who said that she planned to earmark this year’s donation for needs on the bocce courts.
One of the more recent inductees, and this year’s editor of the club newsletter, LuAnn Bouno, is a major supporter of  Looking Forward, “a program designed to provide integrated wellness, support, and education for patients going through cancer treatments, as well as their family members” at Smilow Cancer Hospital at the campuses of Yale-New Haven and St. Raphael. She brought two guests, Kim Dwyer a volunteer at Fellowship Place, Inc. who referenced their annual fashion show planned for June 2nd, and Nancy Ashcroft an Integrated Therapist, who spoke of the many services provided for oncology patients “to reduce the symptoms of cancer treatment.”
