The North Haven Rotary Club was recognized by its home community.

In an effort to express the town’s appreciation for their good works, Edward J. Swinkoski, Director of Community Services & Recreation, and Donna Malley, Community Services Commission Chair, sent a letter in mid-August to Nick D’Ambrosia, president of the North Haven Rotary Club indicating that the service organization had been selected for an annual recognition award.

The letter states that the club had been nominated by a member of the community “who identified the great work that the Rotary does for the community.” The commission had voted at their meeting on May 6th to recognize the group as “the organization of the year for their ongoing contributions to the North Haven community.” Prior to the commission meeting on September 2nd, First Selectman Michael Freda sited the Rotary club for their “tireless efforts on behalf of the community.”

Debbie Volain, the 2013-14 president of the Rotary club, accepted the certificate of recognition on behalf of her colleagues. President Nick D’Ambrosia praised her for the many works accomplished during her year at the helm. With their major fundraiser cryptically known as ‘Wine and Roses’ coming soon on the 28th, Dave Marchesseault, the event chair, and Mary Jane Mulligan, heading up ticket sales, were also present at the commission meeting to both recognize Volain and to endorse the annual activity that supports countless local charities.
